Secretaries-General

Stephanie Kannimmel

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all future participants of this year’s MYMUN XVI Conference. My name is Stephanie Kannimmel, and it is my honor to be serving as one of the Secretaries General for MYMUN XVI. I attended my first MYMUN conference in 2013, and the unforgettable experience I had as a delegate allowed me to develop a passion for Model United Nations, leading me to attend 18 conferences throughout Malaysia, Singapore, and the Netherlands.

Having been a part of MYMUN for the past six years, I can guarantee that MYMUN XVI will be yet another fulfilling and successful conference for all involved in it. From hand-picking committee topics reflecting real-world issues to selecting qualified and passionate Student Officers, this year’s leadership team will strive to ensure that MYMUN XVI provides yet another unforgettable experience for all participants.

Attending MYMUN X changed my perspective on the world and the views of others, and I hope that it will do the same for everyone at MYMUN XVI, fostering growth, compassion, and change.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at stephaniekannimmel@mkis.edu.my. I look forward to meeting all of you during MYMUN XVI!

Daniel Chavez

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all participants of the upcoming MYMUN XVI conference. My name is Daniel Chavez and I am honored to be serving as the Secretary General for MYMUN XVI alongside Stephanie Kannimmel.

After participating in a plethora of MUN conferences across Asia and Europe, my high school MUN journey has come full circle from when I participated as the delegate of Argentina in the Environment II Committee in the MYMUN XI conference, to this year when I will be serving in my final high school MUN conference as the Secretary General of MYMUN XVI. Throughout my experiences participating in MUN as a delegate, chair, and Secretariat member, I have developed into someone who is confident to share their views on global issues today.

My historical, geographical, and cultural knowledge of the world has been enriched by this program, and for those just starting out, I hope it has a similar impact. My aim for this conference is to facilitate an environment in which every delegate feels comfortable to present speeches and propose solutions from the perspectives of current world leaders today.

For delegates starting out, my message to you is to be bold and take risks. Issues of global significance never have straightforward solutions. Therefore, it is up to you all as the next generation of future world leaders to think creatively to propose resolutions that account for every nuance of these pertinent global issues. Though a seemingly daunting task, with the combined power of unique perspectives from over 20 delegates in each committee, I have full confidence that solutions originating from this very conference may have important future implications for tackling the problems our world faces today.

The MYMUN XVI Secretariat team has been working tirelessly to ensure the success of this year’s conference. On the part of myself, Stephanie, and all of the Deputy Secretaries Generals, we hope to make this year’s MYMUN conference the best it has ever been!
