Welcome to the twentieth rendition of the Malaysian Model United Nations, MYMUN XX. My name is Nick Sen Chua, and I am honored to once again serve as your secretary-general for this year’s upcoming conference.

In a world characterized by rigid social constructs and systems, entrenched systems, and stalled policymaking, the need to pause and reflect has never been more pressing. We must reflect on the world we live in, reflect on individual and collective goals, and reflect on what we can do to make our society even 1% better. Yet reflections without direction are insufficient. Meaningful change requires tangible goals. It demands that we reimagine who we are and continuously reinvent how we confront the challenges that come before us.

At the conference, I hope every delegate embraces the spirit of deliberate growth. Reinvention doesn’t come in dramatic changes; it emerges from incremental steps. Whether it means asking one more POI, extending your speech by 10 seconds, or amending another clause to a resolution, each commitment to improvement matters. Growth is most profound when we allow ourselves to be uncomfortable. I encourage all delegates to place themselves in situations that challenge them: to struggle, to adapt, to learn, and ultimately, to reflect and reimagine continually.
